Match report Gordonians XI were short by 6 players when it was 15 mins to 1 PM scheduled start! Toss was won by Gordos skipper Indy and knowing the flat nature of the wicket, he decided to bat first. Indy and Viraj opened the innings and made a steady start with run rate hovering around 4 rpo until the first drinks break at 16th over. Viraj was the first wicket to fall for a well made 28 after a century opening stand! In comes AB and as he did so many times this season, started middling the ball from the word go! AB scored quickly until he was bowled by Devlin for 23. Next man Jamil has been batting well all season and today was no different. He provided good support to Indy who was hitting the ball well by now. Indy reached his maiden century during this process and continued his onslaught until 40th over when he was stopped at 154! Another century stand was formed between Jamil and Indy. Amith was the next man in and this time round he provided support to Jamil to accelerate. Both ran well between the wickets and ticked the scoreboard along nicely. Both stayed not out till the end with an excellent partnership of 35 runs in just 5 overs! Gordos posted a mammoth total of 298 after 45 overs.
After tea break, Stonehaven began their run chase but it suffered a major setback when Dolman clean bowled L.Fenton in only 2nd over. Dolman's next victim was vanGisjel when he was trapped in front of the wicket. Stonehaven 15 for 2 after 6 overs. A.Gale was the next man in and played fluently. He formed couple of decent partnerships with both Matthews, but when E.Matthews was skilfully bowled by young Pranav, floodgates opened. Jamil 'the Master' was responsible for that as he picked up 4 wickets in his 7.4 over spell to seal a comprehensive victory over Stonehaven who played the game in tremendous spirit! Although there were plenty of good performances on a hot sunny day at Counteswells from both sides, but the one that stood out was 154 by Gordos skipper Indy who gets the MoM award.
