Match report Having won their first game in a while against Huntly the previous Saturday, Kinloch had an air of confidence about them as Gordonians arrived at Forfar. The pitch looked good, the outfield looked fast, the QR code was negotiated and Gordonians were always going to bat. Bowman and Niazi started well for Kinloch with the ball moving enough to keep Hegde and Arora on their toes, but having got the first 14 balls out of the way the Arora Batealis appeared as consecutive balls from Bowman sped to the boundary. The last ball of the 3rd Bowman over suffered a similar fate as Arora looked imperious, and when the first 2 balls of his 4th over also went to the boundary, the Bowman spell was over. His replacement Shah made an instant impact as he swung a delivery past Hegde and bowled him for a 32 ball 14. The rest of the over was a mixed bag of wides and useful deliveries and his next over was similar in that it also included a replica delivery that bowled Arora for 27. Gordonians were 59 for 2 off 11 overs, and as the saying goes , if you add 2 wickets to that then it looked like the match was in the balance. Unfortunately for Kinloch, by the time they added another wicket the score had raced on to 193 as Abrar and Himanshu had both gone past their 50s. Seven 4s and two 6s from Himanshu off 66 balls and it was a shock when he missed a full toss that had 'fetch from the trees' written all over it as he went for 72. With 15 overs still to bat and Kinloch heads down from chasing and fetching the ball, Gordos still had to focus on batting the overs and putting the game well beyond Kinloch, plus the little matter of Abrar needing 41 more runs for a century. Mayank eased himself into the game with a period of singles being rotated and then started to get his shots out but at the other end Abrar was scoring off virtually every delivery and brought up his century. Shah picked up a 3rd wicket as Mayank smashed one down the ground and Khan got his hands in the way to prevent a flat 6, a piece of fielding that was at odds with what had become a fairly ragged fielding effort as Gordos plundered a big score. Prashant Wig had been sitting with his pads on for a while and he added a brutal final flourish taking 22 off the last over as the total went to 313 for 4.
This was way beyond Kinloch but they were still going to go for their shots and this resulted in a wicket in the first over for Arora as Srinivasan plucked a drive out of the air to remove Niazi. Srinivasan opened at the other end and had the Kinloch batsmen playing and missing and he pitched one up in his 2nd over that secured his first Gordos wicket as Ali was lbw although he had taken 12 off the previous Arora over. Arora picked up a 2nd wicket which was a replica of his first and then Srinivasan delivered a double wicket maiden of caught behinds to reduce Kinloch to 35 for 5 in the 8th over. Srinivasan took 3 for 17 off 7 overs but this was a spell that could have had 5 or 6 wickets. Ashfaq didn't take long to get amongst the wickets with his variety beating the bats of Sadaat and Mohammad and cutting out the need for fielders. No surprise that Talwinder bagged a wicket as the straight ball always opens up the lbw option. Credit to Bowman and Ahmed who batted out 8 overs before a mix up resulted in a run out and a final total of 96. Mention must be given to umpire Willie Anderson who stood on his own and gave a very strong faultless performance.
