Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI v Perth Doocot on Sat 22 Jul 2017 at 13.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Perth Doo'cot were missing some players when the toss was taken, so having called correctly, they elected to bat. Perth started well, thanks to a wayward opening over from Forbes going for 9, but it didn't take too long for the Gordonians opening bowlers to make an impact. Forbes rattled off 3 maidens, and then Himanshu had Anderson caught at slip by Rane for 7, followed by bowling Ferguson for 10 off his next over. 27 for 2 then became 33 for 3, 33 for 4, and 33 for 5, as Himanshu bowled Knoesen for 1, Forbes had the prolific Taylor caught behind for 5, and Ali offered up a tame catch to Arora at mid on for a duck.
Forbes finished his 9 over spell with an impressive 1 for 12, including 6 maidens, somewhat overshadowed by Himanshu taking 4 for 21 at the other end, but the combined pressure created by both bowlers could have brought more rewards if catches had been held, or the ball hadn't evaded potential catchers through the slip area.
Credit must go to Trevor Brown and Stuart McCreanor who then rescued the Perth innings from freefall. A 22 over and 81 run partnership, dragged the score up to 114, before Rane bowled Brown for 29. McCreanor was stumped off Rane for 47, and Perth did well to bat out the overs and finish on 146 for 7.
Gordonians will be fairly happy with their ground fielding, Richards and Barman in particular, doing well to stall the scoreboard.
With a relatively modest total to chase, Arshad and Arora were in no hurry, although it was a surprise when Arora had his stumps wobbled by McCreanor for a 17 ball single. If you want to see a textbook defence, look no further than Sandy Richards. If you want to see a batsman savage loose bowling, look no further than Hamza Arshad. Over number 10 saw Sarral launched over his head for 6, then pulled for 4 by Hamza. Over number 11 from McCreanor started 6,4,4, as Hamza made the boundary look a bit short, although the pick of the shots was a 4 tanked along the ground between cover and mid off.
Change bowlers Knoesen and Pennycook brought a semblance of normality to proceedings, although Hamza did drill Knoesen for a long straight 6 at a relatively low trajectory.
It took a while for Sandy to hit his first boundary, but his next 3 fell in to the sumptuous category. Hamza added another 2 maximums off Rehman, but the partnership of 125 was brought to an end as Sandy was lbw for 29.
As the Perth total hurtled in to sight, the onlookers were furiously trying to work out if Hamza could make it to his ton. It was eventually agreed that he had to go 4 then 6 to hit the milestone, but this became academic when a Rehman wide sprinted to the boundary. Hamza closed on an undefeated 91, and the Perth total was overhauled in the 34th over.
