Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI v Mannofield on Sat 24 Jun 2017 at 13.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Won by 33 runs

Match report Rumours that Mannofield might be under strength turned out to be fake news as they turned up with as good a team as they have brought to Countesswells in many a year.
Stand in skipper Swapnil won the toss and elected to bat. Credit to Mannofield for opening the bowling with their youngest player, and Lewis Munro didn't let them down, bowling Sree for a duck 3rd ball. Things got worse for Gordonians as Hamza got a very faint edge off Bashir, caught behind for 6. Swapnil fastened his seat belt and buckled down for a long knock, whilst Himanshu got stuck in to some half trackers from Bashir to keep the scoreboard moving. The score had moved on to 86 when Himanshu tried to whack Proud over the top, only to pick out Grant Jamieson on tiptoes to send him back to the sheds for 35. Abrar was greeted with a wide and then smacked the next one over mid off, well it looked that way, until the 6 foot and a lot frame of Sweeney reached up and took the catch.
Swapnil brought up his 50, but having batted for over 2 hours, he played a loose shot off Proud and was caught for 51. Proud then suckered Debo with a slow ball and Gordonians were 111 for 6. Mayank with 10, and Aayush with 12, steadied the mini collapse, and an unbeaten last wicket partnership of 25 between Forbes and Dalgarno took the total to 166 for 9, Chris hitting what turned out to be the only maximum of the match. Proud took 4 for 24 off his 9 overs, and Findlay Anderson had slow bowled his 9 overs for only 20, remarkably conceding no boundaries.
The now familiar opening bowling partnership of Forbes and Saraswat kept the scoreboard quiet, and once they had settled, they ran through the Mannofield top order, reducing them to 31 for 4 in the 14th over, with Dickinson and Proud both out for zero. Knight had looked rusty early in his innings, and having survived a couple of large lbw appeals, he then started playing some decent shots. Van Oorschot has always played well at Countesswells, but his effectiveness was much reduced when he pulled a hamstring having been called through for a very tight single. Chamila removed both Knight and Van Oorschot, and when Swapnil had Bashir lbw without scoring, Mannofield were 96 for 7 in the 34th over with a mountain to climb. Dalgarno was brought on to clean up Findlay and Munro, and it was left to Sweeney and Anderson to play out the last 5 overs, taking the total to 133 for 9.
