Kinloch v Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI on Sat 06 May 2017 at 13.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report The drive to the sunny home of golf was interrupted by a trip to the home of the burger, the breakfast wrap, and the token sale of a vegetarian item. The sun may have been out in St Andrews, but so was a chilly wind, as Aman once again called the toss correctly and elected to field.
Kinloch openers Bowman and Saim are both better known as bowlers, but they showed they can play and miss as well as anyone. It was painful stuff, particularly for the inside leg of Bowman, battered on a regular basis by Forbes. The first 10 overs yielded 14 runs with Himanshu and Chris only conceding 2 scoring shots each.
Abrar replaced Chris and only went for 6 off 3 overs before being replaced by Rane, given no respect by Bowman who cracked his first ball for 4. A flurry of runs off a Himanshu over saw the introduction of Hamza and he duly whistled past the outside edge regularly. The score had advanced to 44 in the 19th over when Saim eventually got an edge to a Hamza delivery, and with a prolonged circus style juggle, Mayank eventually claimed the catch.
With Owais at number 3 becalmed, Bowman had to play a few shots, and he made it to 34 before Himanshu pulled off an excellent sharp catch at slip off Rane. Sadiq lasted 3 balls before being stranded mid wicket, run out by Hamza. Owais at number 3 had taken 19 balls to get off the mark, but he added to the collapse as he was bowled by Rane. 44 for 0 had turned in to 63 for 4 in the 27th over. Rather than collapse further, Kinloch delved in to their bag of clubs and started driving with good effect, Wig in particular dealing in dots and boundaries. Arora was picking up wickets, but at a cost, and with Kiyani firing through the vacant 3rd slip area, the scoreboard was ticking over faster than a Marc Jones scorecard on a blustery day on a seaside golf course.
Forbes came back for an over and had Ahmed well caught by Himanshu, but Kiyani got the 3 wood out in the final over and clubbed Arora out of bounds for the only 6 of the innings. He finished on an unbeaten 44 and the score had rattled to 182, well over par given the early lack of stroke play. A couple of dropped catches probably had little impact on the final score.
Tee time, and it was like pub golf for Gareth Miles as he moved from one food group to the next, putting them away as if he hadn't eaten for 3 days.
It was the usual twosome of Barman and Arora who teed off for Gordonians and Wig and Bowman bowled a few loosening wides to let them see how the pitch would play. Despite bowling a couple of maidens each, the score had advanced to 49 off 12 overs and this brought a double bowling change. Debo had a look at Saim and then got the 9 iron out, and with a classic swing that Tiger Woods would have been proud of, he sent the ball spiralling over the ropes and pin high, earning the applause of the assembled gallery. Not to be outdone, Arora got the driver out, smacking Saim for 4, 6, 4 with successive shots. The partnership had moved to 88 in the 20th over when Debo was bowled by Kiyani, becoming the leader in the clubhouse on 47. Abrar dominated a partnership with Aman before offering up catching practice, out for 18, Hamza then following for 5, Bowman taking a well judged catch. Himanshu settled on to the course well, looking in control of the club as he has done all season, whilst Arora took the outright lead, moving past 50 with style. Arora was now showing the timing that had won him many trophies as he hit Saim for four 4's in a row, but a rare mistake saw him caught for 71, and Himanshu followed for 20 as Gordonians secured victory in the 39th over.
As the sun set on the Old Course, the majority of the Gordonians team were already holed up in a curry house in Dundee, no doubt discussing just how good that 6 from Debo was.
