Match report Gordonians travelled to newest facility of Inverdee to face Bon Accord in their rescheduled round 10 game of Grade 1. To avoid any ambiguity, this was a game of cricket!

Gordos skipper lost the toss and were inserted to bat first by the stand-in Bons skipper Fazal Awan. To Bons frustration, Gordos had a brilliant start with AB and Junior Tanish and they stitched a 60 runs partnership until Tanish was caught off Awan's bowling in 15th over. It would seem Bons drew the first blood but in fact it was Tanish when his crisp drive went through the hands of Bons fielder and struck above the eyebrow! Game stopped to check for the concussion but the fielder was OK and game resumed. Bons skipper brought himself onto the attack and bowled with control and pace and started turning the tide! He had S Ahmed as partner from the other end who was also bowling well. The pair bowled their full quota at a tandem and bagged 3 wickets each in the process! During this phase, AB reached his 50 runs milestone but fell soon after that. Abhilash looked comfortable but was also done by an accurate yorker by Awan. Junior Adi M, experienced Harshad and Rohit all were victims of Shakeel for playing loose shots! The phase of 14 to 25th overs saw a loss of 5 wickets for merely 30 odd runs, until Gordos skipper Indy walked in. Indy, along with young Shaunak did some damage repair for put together a 40 runs 8th wicket partnership until Indy fell for 24. Shaunak held his nerve as he kept losing batting partners at the other end until last wicket of our own Afghan Jalebi, Mati Yar walked in! The last wicket partnership put a crucial 30 runs together which propelled Gordos total to 169! Gordos had some runs on the board to go to war!

After the break, Bons prolific opener Fazal walked out with MK to open their innings. Now, just to be clear, this is a different MK from Gordos legend Mohit Khosla who also happens to be an opener but nowadays he is gracing the 1st team with his presence. Experienced campaigner Chamila started the proceedings along with newbie Sheetal Mehta. It was Mehta who brought the first breakthrough when Tanish held on to a good catch at square leg. Next batsman Haroon didn't trouble the scorers as he was run out by a brilliant combined effort of Adi and Indy! Chamila picked up next danger man Mirza at the long off boundary with the help Mati's safe hands. Bons reduced to 36 for 3 in 9 overs. A rebuilding phase for Bons by Fazal and Sajid ensued but introduction of Indy's medium pace messed up that plan when Fazal holed out at long off by big bucket hands off AB! From this point on, Bons were playing time to wait for a weak link to go after. This tactic of picking on weaklings has worked wonders for them over the years, however there was none to be found on the day, even when Bashir Brothers made themselves unavailable! Mati Yar bowled at a good pace but he was a little wayward, even for his own good standard. Despite of that, he picked the right moment to go through the defense of Shakeel to rattle the stumps right after the drinks break! Sajid, the last threat, was removed by Indy soon after, but all credit goes to the keeper Shaunak for grabbing a wonderful catch down the leg. He was excellent behind the stumps. Opening duo of Chamila and Sheetal returned to do a clean up job and so they did. Chamila trapped Chatta in front of the wicket with his newly developed leg cutter and Mehta found the outside edge of Maqbool in his penultimate over. Harshad has been among the wickets and a secret agreement with skipper earned him an over to improve his wickets tally. He didn't disappoint and mopped up the tail in his first over by picking up the last 2 wickets. Bon Accord all out for 112 in 32 overs.

It was a good game of cricket played, surprisingly without any issues but that was largely due to the fact 2 excellent neutral umpires were standing in. This win placed Gordonians into the 2nd spot of the league, just behind MBA by 2 points.
