Strathmore v ASI Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI on Sat 11 May 2019 at 13.00
ASI Gordonians Cricket Club Won by 54 runs

Match report Strathmore won the toss and weren't sure what to do. Lochside Park is normally good for batting so we should have guessed that a runfest wasn't on the cards when Strathmore plumped for a bit of bowling. Abrar has been in excellent form, but that little bit of extra pace from the Strathmore overseas amateur Bolttler, induced a high top edge off the last ball of the first over. Gary Hewitson chased after it from the slip region, and the bookmakers were very surprised when he pulled an excellently judged catch out of the bag. Dale Sweeney opened the bowling at the other end with 2 maidens, and expectations of a 200+ score were reassessed. Himanshu gave Bolttler a return catch in the 7th over, and 11 for 2 meant it was time for an early rebuild. Over number 11 brought some relief as Bolttler bowled 2 no balls with the free hits being smacked for 4 and 6 by Aman and Imran. Imran was looking in the mood but didn't get hold of a lofted drive over mid on and perished for 25. 47 for 3 became 53 for 4 as Aman was bowled by Kiyani. Again it was down to Swapnil and Prashant to repair the damage, and again they delivered, albeit slowly and with minimal risk. A 56 run partnership was brought to an end with Wig caught behind for 16 in the 34th over. Mayank seemed to have plenty of time, and a couple of inventive paddles behind square off Milne injected some pace to the scoring. Mayank was out for 18 and next over Swapnil and Hafeez followed, although Swapnil had scored a 70 ball 45 to boost the total. The innings finished in the 44th with Gordonians all out for 154. Bolttler and Liam Sweeney took 3 wickets apiece for the hosts but Gordonians will feel that the majority of the dismissals were avoidable.
3 byes off the first ball from Saraswat confirmed that the ball wasn't always coming through as expected, but the bowlers were keeping it tight, and 156 was now looking competitive. Opener Hewitson was sound in defence, and when he did go for his shots they were elegantly timed. The partnership had moved on to 28 when Bhalani made the breakthrough, bowling Shoaib for 8. Hewitson was bowled by Himanshu for an excellent 25, and then Bhalani rearranged the stumps of Saim for 3, Strathmore 40 for 3. Bolttler looked very organised with the bat, his defence impeccable. Milne at the other end was looking to attack if the ball was in his zone. Having shown he could defend, Bolttler suddenly went on the attack, and an aeriel shot over long on didn't achieve the intended result and Hafeez made the catch look very easy. 67 for 4 turned to 67 for 5 as Milne holed out to Mayank off Bhalani. Another 2 wickets fell with the score on 72 and although Kiyani hit a rapid 20, the Strathmore innings closed on 100 in the 31st over. Man of the match comfortably went to Bhalani for a remarkable 9 over spell, with 6 maidens and 5 for 11.
