Match report Nice day, excellent pitch, no Matty Farmer pinging the ball at the batsmen, win toss, bat first......7 for 4 after 19 balls. Meigle probably couldn't believe their luck as a run out, and batsmen having a dart at wide balls, turned the game in their favour inside 20 minutes. Himanshu made a patient start and then looked in excellent form. Prashant hit consecutive boundaries off Neave but was lbw in the next over for 14. Imran joined Himanshu and again looked in good touch. It was a surprise when Himanshu nicked Stewart to slip for 28 and in the 13th over it was Imran and Swapnil on another repair job. They took the score to 96 when Imran got his bat jammed behind his leg and was lbw to the Meigle pro Gayashan. Bhalani stuck in with Swapnil, but in the 32nd over the innings was brought to an end with the total on 152, Swapnil unbeaten on 56.
The early conclusion to the innings meant the pasta wasn't even in the oven, so Meigle were sent out to bat. Saeed showed exemplary patience whilst Duff was distinctly more expansive as rumours that he wanted to get home and cut his grass began to circulate. Duff was first out, but having rattled up 36, the writing was already on the wall for Gordonians. Gayashan looked very well organised and took his time to have a look at the pace of the pitch, but once in, he showed he had some shots in his locker. The score advanced to 123 before Saeed was eventually removed for 28, Mauzzam clinging on to a very sharp caught and bowled. Gayashan finished things off with a maximum and this also brought up his own half century.
This was the 7th defeat in a row for Gordonians, and a rare visit to the bottom of the table, but hopes were high that a visit to Kilmarnock the next day might see the tide turn for their fortunes.
