Stoneywood Dyce v Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI on Sat 29 Jul 2017 at 13.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Lost by 10 wickets

Match report The much anticipated clash of the top 2 started well for Gordonians as they won the toss. And then it all went wrong for the visitors. Koster and Kennard started with a maiden apiece and then Koster induced an edge from Hamza to have him caught behind for 2. Arora and Richards dug in and allowed the wides to accumulate, taking the score to 27 before Richards made the mistake of sticking the ball in the air near Jack Mitchell, who duly pulled off a reflex one handed catch in the gulley area.
Worse was to follow in the next over as Himanshu chopped to point and called for a run but in a close run call, Aman was given run out for 8.
Himanshu then drilled Grant down the ground for what turned out to be the only boundary of the innings, but 3 balls later he plumped his leg in front of middle stump and gave the umpire an easy lbw decision.
The Gordonians batsmen were making the pitch look difficult, but this coincided with the Stoneywood bowlers putting in their best shift of the season. Swapnil was bowled by King for a 25 ball duck to reduce the score to 37 for 5, and it was downhill from there as Mayank was bowled by Grant. Debo was then bowled by the returning Koster, and Rowell set up a hat trick as he got an even better ball from Koster. 45 for 8 became 45 for 9 as Abrar gave Grant a rare stumping to add to his haul of wickets, and the capitulation was complete in the next over as Forbes couldn't keep out Koster. Despite being gifted 18 wides, Gordonians were 48 all out in 27 overs, and no batting points.
Tea was postponed and Lindsay and Lambley opened for Stoneywood. Forbes did beat the edge of Lindsay, who for once this season, wasn't going to get a half century. He played a couple of excellent shots as Himanshu didn't hit the right length, the pitch suddenly looking much easier to bat on as the sun came out.
A change of pace from Hamza saw Mayank whip off the bails to stump Lambley, only for the umpire to spot a front foot infringement. Sometimes it just isn't your day, and 5 wides from Hamza gave Stoneywood the required runs to win.
Stoneywood Dyce had taken the initiative from the get go, with the impressive Koster well backed up by his fellow bowlers and some sharp ground fielding. The success of the Gordonians batting has been that in adversity someone has always knuckled down, but today they struggled to get the ball off the square, and the solitary boundary illustrated that they never got the measure of the pitch.
No bonus points at all for Gordonians, hands a big advantage to Stoneywood Dyce at the top of the league, and it is hard to see them losing over the next 4 weekends.
