ASI Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI v Stoneywood Dyce on Sat 27 May 2017 at 13.00
ASI Gordonians Cricket Club Lost by 36 runs

Match report A warm day by Countesswells standards and the only 2 unbeaten sides in the league lined up for a local derby. Aman won the toss and elected to bowl first. With Coetzer injured, Davidson was sent in to open with Lindsay and it was a slow start with wides rotating the scoreboard until Himanshu bowled a rare no ball, the free hit being a wide, then smashed for 4 by Lindsay.
Forbes bowled Davidson for 2, and some additional tight bowling from Hamza and Abrar kept the scoring down to a pedestrian level. Maclaren was bowled by Hamza in the 21st over with the score on 58, and Mitchell, who has scored runs for fun at Countesswells before, took 12 balls to get off the mark. 33 overs gone, 99 on the board, and Jamie Richards was brought on for his first spell in the SPCU. Mitchell hit his first ball for 2 to bring up the team ton, but the next ball was a bit short outside off and the Stoneywood skipper could only guide it to Himanshu at point, out for 18. Rayner was in a hurry to get the singles moving but a smart piece of work saw him run out by Forbes for 4.
Lindsay had maybe only played one false shot and had increased his run rate to go past 50, but fell caught behind off Arora for 54, immediately followed by Squire next ball in the exact same manner. No hat trick, but 112 for 6 and Gordonians on top. Koster was bowled by Arora for a duck but Steinson was given good support by Grant and Hood to bat out the overs and take the total to 162, probably 20 or 30 more than Gordonians would have liked, and Steinson 24 not out.
If the plan was to see out the bowling of Koster then it only lasted 4 balls as he rearranged the stumps of Debo. Gareth had scored 1 off 18 balls before only playing a half shot to a ball outside off, Grant taking an excellent low catch to give Koster 2 for 1 in his first 4 overs. Runs were coming more freely at the other end with Aman looking in touch. Himanshu was looking equally untroubled, and having seen off the opening burst from Koster, it was a serious blow to the home side when Grant trapped Arora lbw for 14 in his first over.
To make matters worse, in the next over, Mayank fell asleep at the non strikers end with no run being attempted, and a speculative throw from Rayner found him out of his crease. 36 for 2 had become 36 for 4, effectively 36 for 5 with Aayush having to leave early. Hamza and Himanshu were looking solid until a 'yes, no show', and a superb bit of fielding from Lindsay, aided by Hamza slipping over whilst trying to turn, saw Hamza run out at the non strikers end for only 4. Abrar wasn't hanging around and hit his 5th ball for 6, as he and Himanshu added 61 in just over 10 overs. This was excellent batting, Himanshu having passed his half century, and Stoneywood needed something to happen, and it did. A confident appeal for a caught behind off Lindsay was upheld and Abrar was gone for 30. Himanshu had already launched a spinner for 6, but didn't quite time another attempt off Lindsay, and Jordan Squire was coolness personified as he waited for the ball to spiral down to his eager hands, Himanshu out for 53. Sree was then clean bowled by a beauty from Koster, and Forbes repeated the Himanshu shot off Lindsay with the exact same result, Squire cucumber like to finish the contest.
Gordonians had been romping ahead of the run rate but just didn't bat the overs. Hamza had also broken a finger fielding, and to add insult to injury, so to speak, Gordonians also picked up a 2 point deduction for their tardy over rate.
