Match report It was an early start for the Gordonians contingent. The long drive to Dumfries not only required the mandatory stop at the Forfar McDonalds for their delicious breakfast, but also offered up chances to bag a few pokemon on the way.
It was no surprise that Forbes was the first to arrive, setting a new lap record on the Aberdeen to Dumfries circuit. Those in his car were the first to take advantage of the unique leather couches provided in front of the pavilion at Dumfries, couches with which the guys were to become very familiar as the rain that had been forecast arrived a few minutes earlier than expected. After the rain had fallen for about an hour, some additional covers were brought out to make sure the areas next to the pitch did not get any worse. The rain stopped at the back of 2pm and the umpires inspected the ground, particular concern being expressed about the run ups and areas adjacent to the pitch. An early tea was taken to give the sun a chance to dry things up and play began at 4pm. Some areas of the field were still slippery and Mayank and Marc both ended up on the floor, with Marc giving his groin area some attentive rubbing, presumably having stretched it a bit. The smirry rain returned and play carried on until Chris got soaked to the skin (almost). The introduction of Hamza for the 12th over with his rain smeared glasses persuaded the umpires that it really was time to give up, and play was abandoned with no prospect of bringing the 25 over battle to a conclusion.
Driving conditions on the way back were dreadful and a stop at Nawaabs curry house in Perth made the whole trip worthwhile.
Cricket? Oh, the cricket. They batted, their Aussie opener was pretty decent and was 46 not out. Krutik clean bowled the other opener for 1 with a beauty, and let's just move on to next week.
