Match report Dundee may have been bottom of the league, but they have a lot of quality in their ranks, and when they do eventually fire, they could beat anyone. The hope was that their resurgence wouldn't start at Countesswells. Sometimes winning the toss can be a curse, particularly when the players don't follow the script. Deciding to bat, Sree duly dispatched the first ball to the boundary, but unfortunately the miserable batting form of Arora continued as he was bowled for a duck in the first over. Sree then took 9 off the next over from Milne, and with Sunny looking watchful, the ship was steadied, at least until the 9th over when the innings was scuttled by Milne, removing Sunny, and then Hamish lbw 2nd ball for a duck. 32 for 1 had become 32 for 3 and worse was to follow as Milne found himself on a hat trick clean bowling Cam and Debo for ducks in the 13th over, the score now 36 for 5. The recent form of Stark suggested Milne had a fair chance of adding to his haul, but this was not the usual swashbuckling cavalier Stark, and despite the odd prod and miss, this was a concentrated show of application that the team really needed. With Sree, he put on 73 in 16 overs, although Sree survived 2 rather straight forward dropped chances as he moved to 71, before being the 6th wicket down on 109. Jason and Swapnil took the score to 154 before Jason was out for 36, with 9 2's and the rest singles. The innings then drew to a close as wickets fell quickly, and Gordonians were all out for 169 in the 43rd over, Swapnil continuing his good form with 30.
After another feast of pizza and pasta, the Dundee openers didn't have to play too many shots as extras took centre stage. Forbes went for a rare maximum before he pulled a hamstring and Mayank had to come on to bowl the final ball of his 4th over, surprising everyone, including the batsman, by cleaning up his stumps. With Cam bowling very tightly the scorebook was filling up with dots, and with Hamish taking over from Mayank at the other end, and starting with 2 maidens, Dundee were either falling below the run rate, or they were building a platform to win. The score had moved to 53 when sharp fielding by the injured Forbes sent Ramalingam back to the sidelines for a slow 6. Horne didn't last long as a beauty from Hamish snicked something on the way to the keeper, the score 58 for 3, which became 58 for 4 as Ancell was stumped off Swapnil next over for a patient 25. Mayank was brought back once Hamish had bowled his 9 overs, and cleaned up Lawty first ball, although his potentially bizarre hat trick was survived by Rasheed. A spectacular catch at slip by Sunny gave Swapnil another wicket, and figures of 2 for 3 off 6 overs. He should have stopped there, as Rasheed took a liking to the boundary at Countesswells, smashing a couple of 6's and a couple of 4's to make it game on again. A rapid 30 from Rasheed was ended by Arora who induced a skyer that was coolly pouched by Cam. Aman Khan then took a wicket, and it was game over as Dundee took a pragmatic approach to securing another bonus point rather than chasing a now unlikely victory target. Dundee made it to 128 as Arora tidied up the tail taking 3 for 10. Everyone ended with respectable bowling figures, although Cam getting through his 9 overs for only 13 created pressure that Dundee just couldn't cope with.
