Dunecht v Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 3rd XI on Sat 24 May 2014 at 13.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Lost by 1 wicket

Match report Grass the best fielder of the day.

With only one of the Gordonians eleven actually knowing the route to Dunecht pitch, getting there was half the battle.
The Gordonians boys arrived to a jungle with a wicket somewhere in the middle. With the Dunecht captain profusely apologising for the state of the outfield play was underway with Gordonians losing the toss and being put in to bat.

C. Airey and B. Harper opened the batting a put on a solid opening partnership of 36 off nine overs with Airey scoring 34 and extras scoring two. It was an ex Gordonians player, Alex Shepherd, to take the wicket of Airey who was going strong, hitting 32 off 21 balls before being caught on the boundary trying to slog another six back over the bowlers head.

After facing 31 balls Harper got off the mark with a cheeky offside single which held up in the grass. Quickly overwhelmed with runs Harper was caught out after playing a lovely straight drive against his fellow batsman to which the ball looped up to third man. Harper out for 2.

J. Wilkinson and P. Gopti looked to be batting nicely before Gopti was caught for 7. The wickets quickly tumbled after this with J. Wilkinson departing for 10 followed swiftly by Nair and Seymour, both out for ducks!

A. Juneja gave Gordonians some hope, after breaking one bat attempting a 6 he had to swap bats. He preceded to slog three sixes scoring 22 before running himself out!

S. Dalgarno looked to be batting well with J. Clark before playing around the ball being the first bowled wicket of the day. Clark hit a rare four before being bowled leg stump for 10.

R. Bhatia arrived at the crease, being told to block by his batting partner and missing one whilst outside his crease. The bails were quickly removed and Bhatia was back to the ‘clubhouse’ for 1. This left S. Nagarajan not out for 5.

Gordonians replied well with the ball, A. Juneja bowling a tight seven overs taking 2 wickets for 10 runs, finishing on figures of 10-23-3. Nair opened from the other end taking 1-7 of his opening spell, before finishing on 7.2-13-2

J. Clark bowled through ten overs superbly. Catches went down from his bowling on what might have been a different match. He finished on 10-23-3
Sanjay ‘YAYA’ took over from Juneja finishing on figures of 6-32-0

J. Wilkinson came on to try to wrap things up finishing on 2-1-1.

Gordonians needed one wicket to win with Dunecht needing one run, a cheeky single down the leg side with the field up brought about the first defeat of the season for Gordonians 3rd XI.
