Match report It's not often that a defeat feels like a victory, but after some woeful performances, Gordonians could walk away from this one with their heads held high and a feeling of 'what might have been'.
The Forthill pitch was a cracker and anything with a bit of pace was helped to the boundary. Hiru was the most economical, bowling 7 overs for 30, but with Phani conceding 70 off 9, and other figures also making gruesome reading, Forthill accumulated 283 for 7.
Dev went for 1 but after that the runs flowed. Karan and Nipun both got 26 and Rahul 28. Mayank went 4,6 out and then Phani was run out for 38, Joe out for 37 and Ash bowled for 34. Even then Jason and Hiru still had victory in sight as Forthill outscored the extras total by Gordonians. When Stark went for 6, Hiru was left unbeaten on 13 as Jones picked up a familiar 1st team duck. Gordonians finished 17 runs short with 7 balls remaining, and were left to rue the fact that nobody had kicked on with a few runs more.
It is rare for defeat to be met with smiles but both teams knew this could have gone either way and it is always a pleasure to play on a top notch wicket.
