Rossie Priory v Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI on Sat 22 Jun 2013 at 13.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Won by 20 runs

Match report Gordonians were in trouble before the match started with Karan picking up a speeding fine on the way down from Aberdeen. Some made a tour of the Rossie estate before eventually pitching up at the ground. The forecast was not good but when play got under way Stark smacked the 1st ball back past the bowler for 4. Next ball he was bowled behind his legs and Karan was out soon after for 3. Rahul scored a composed 23 before being given LBW to a full toss that the Rossie Captain reckoned was swinging down leg. Mayank and Phani made 25 and 14 respectively but couldn't kick on to the big score that was needed. Joe was disappointed to get out for 3 and Aman was given out caught behind, although the Rossie Captain was also fairly sure that no bat was involved. The stage looked set for Ash to nurdle the score to a defendable level but he tamely top edged a woeful short ball from the Pro and he was gone for 4. Darri and Hiru then prolonged the innings and extras nudged the score up to 114 before Hiru was out, as both he and Darri scored 6. All the Rossie bowlers looked useful and they didn't look like relegation candidates as they dismissed Gordonians for a shoddy 114 off 36 overs.
The rain was on and off and nobody would have complained if Umpire Innes had called the match off, but despite the slippery outfield, the pitch seemed to absorb the rain, and even though it looked greasy, it was agreed that it was fit for play.
Gordonians looked in trouble from the 2nd ball as Phani aggravated an injury and had to bowl through off a few paces. He was wobbling the ball around and could have done a lot of damage if he could have added a bit more pace to the proceedings. Phani did remove the opener and Joe at the other end took out numbers 2 and 4, a suicidal run out took care of McAlpine. Pro Hutton settled in and took advantage of anything loose including some very average ground fielding. It seemed as though he would bat through and give Rossie an easy win but a rush of blood saw him try to smack Hiru for a straight 6 which fell well short of the boundary and in to the hands of a gleeful Ash. The remaining batsmen all looked capable and the result always looked in doubt but a 7 over spell of 2 for 6 from Darri, allied to a few hostile balls from Joe, and a blinding low catch from Mayank, saw Rossie all out for 94 in the 34th over.
