GORDONIANS DO THE TREBLE

03 Sep 2016

In season 2015, Gordonians won the 3 Counties Cup for the first time since 1953, and we also won our first ever National trophy, winning the Cricket Scotland Challenge Cup. We combined this double trophy win by finishing as Runners Up in the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union North East Championship League. Last season was the most successful ever in the Club's 92-year history. No one would have thought that the 2015 successes could have been surpassed, but under the outstanding leadership of Swapnil Rane for a second year, season 2016 saw both the aforementioned Cups being retained, and the Club finishing as Winners of the SPCU North East Championship, a unique treble. The only previous occasion when Gordonians Cricket Club won this league was 22 years ago in 1994. As in 1994, success was achieved by a strong team effort with every squad member contributing at important times throughout the season. Individual playing performances are highlighted in our Honours Board.
