Match report The whole Gordonians team were at the ground before 12:30 and it was a win in its own right! It was such a good vibe and everyone's mood was lifted by this punctuality but then they forgot to warm up which showed when Ellon skipper Ben won the toss and decided to bat first! Ellon raced to 60 after just 4 overs, dispatching anything and everything that was full and straight! The opening duo of Ellon's Ben Webb and S.Davies continued the carnage and took full advantage of poor fielding display by Gordos until 13th over when the scoreboard read 136! However, introduction of Scott Rowell into the bowling attack changed the momentum of the game. He picked up top 3 crucial wickets of Ellon which brought Gordos back into the game. Chamila's economical spell from one end and then Aayush's leg spin slowed the run rate slightly when coupled with Scott's fiery spell of bowling. Aayush bagged couple of wickets in the process, one of which was lightning fast stumping by Yanki! Scott ended up with 4 wickets to his name at a miserly average of 2.75, which is considered great even in a Grades game and it was a 20/20! Ellon posted a big total of 184 on the board!

Gordos skipper Indy knew something different needed to be done in order to climb uphill and he called upon Scott again! Unsurprisingly, Scott delivered yet again and Gordos also set off to a flier - 37 after 3! Indy holed out in the 4th over for 14 and in came Yanki. He provided a supporting role to Scott as he was getting boundaries at a regular interval. Another good partnership worth 40odd runs saw the score to 84 after 10th overs when Yanki was caught behind! Exactly 100 required of 10 overs to level the score! Next man Chamila has played some big innings under tricky situation but this was a real tough task. Unfortunate stumping of Scott in the 11th over which came off keeper's pads was big blow and Gordos were staring down the barrel! But next man Amith has a persona that barrels usually scared of staring at him! He carries that attitude to cricket too and it showed in the next few overs where script could not have been written! Chamila and Amith, two opposite personalities proved why opposites attract each other and often become a success story! These two showed their mettle under tough situation and batted like champions! They manipulated the field and found boundaries on a regular basis and ran between the wickets like Childish Gambino's latest hit 'this is america' music video's last scene! They got us over the line with 5 balls to spare! Chamila 59 not out and Amith 38 not out! It was an amazing game of cricket which both teams played well but there has to be one winner and it was Gordos on this occasion. Gordos meet Siyapa in the next Semi-Final round which also promises to be a mouth watering affair of cricket!
