Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI v Stoneywood Dyce on Tue 26 Jun 2018 at 18.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report Stoneywood Dyce won the toss and elected to bat. Saraswat only conceded one off the bat in the 1st over, as did Arora in the 2nd over. 3 off the first 2 overs isn't a standard T20 opening, but Liam Lindsay had evidently got his eye in as he battered a couple of 6's and 4's off the next 2 overs, only to be bowled by Arora off the last ball of the 4th over for a 16 ball 24. Maclaren and Lister put on 59 for the 2nd wicket, Maclaren playing a couple of top shots to the long boundary towards the new pavilion, whilst they scampered 1's and 2's to keep the scoreboard ticking. Rane bowled Maclaren for a fine 37 and Lister was far from happy when he was run out by miles for 26 but that is T20 cricket. Davidson, Rayner, Lambley and Hood managed 3 runs between them as the Gordonians spinners took control. Mitchell had smacked a big 6 but Arya Pol bowled him for 19 and Stoneywood Dyce did well to keep the scoreboard going as they reached 131 for 9 off their 20 overs. Gordonians will not be happy with some dropped catches and less than inspiring ground fielding.
With Kidd and Grant missing from their attack, they were going to have to find a 5th bowler to support King, Lindsay, Mitchell and Hood, so they needed early wickets to have any chance of victory. Abrar set the tone for the Gordonians batting by spanking King to the boundary in the 1st over, and doing the same to Lindsay in the 2nd over. Arora hung his bat out to a wider quicker delivery from King and was caught behind for 2, but Abrar duly cracked King to the boundary to show that he had no thoughts of early consolidation, following this up with a maximum off Lindsay in the next over. Saraswat got in on the fireworks in the next over smashing King over the fence in to a garden from where the ball was not retrievable. They had rattled the score along to 67 in the 8th over when Abrar made the mistake of calling Himanshu for a quick run to Jack Mitchell. The result was never in doubt as Mitchell threw in comfortably before Himanshu got in the picture and he was gone for 20. 67 for 2 became 85 for 3 as Sree was out for a rapid 12. Rane steadied things with a sensible 13 before being bowled by Hood who then had Mayank caught behind for a first ball duck. 117 for 5, but plenty of time, and having got to his 50 off only 31 balls, Abrar slowed down a little before hitting another boundary to win the match with 14 balls to spare.
Stoneywood Dyce exited the 3 Counties Cup, and with the match finishing at 2 minutes to 9, the need for any dancing in the moonlight was thankfully averted.
