Match report ASI Gordonians won the toss and batted on a freshly prepared strip surrounded by a fast outfield. The lack of a recognised keeper for Mannofield helped the first over yield 15 runs and the runs kept coming. Haddon went for 32 off 4 overs before former Gordonian Hiru Doley replaced him. Imran launched him for a maximum first ball, but lost the battle next ball as he squirted an easy catch to point. Arora already had that on for a ton look about him, and it was a surprise when he was given lbw on 25, as a noise similar to an inside edge was heard at the pavilion. This seemed to rattle the Gordonians innings which was dented further when Horne spun the ball past the bat of Rane with a picture book delivery. 5 runs later and Horne removed Saraswat who was deceived by the lack of spin. Gordonians must have been kicking themselves when they slumped to 105 for 5 but Bhandari and Bhalani led the fightback. Bhandari had started off patiently but he plundered 2 6's off a Horne over before falling lbw for 26. Arya Pol showed excellent technique as he helped Bhalani take the score up to 182 before they both perished for 23 and 19 respectively. Wig and Perera took the total to a respectable but under par 217 with 5 overs unused. 300 had looked likely at one stage and Mannofield would have been glad to have kept the score under 250.
Kieran Findlay doesn't open very often and edged behind off Himanshu in the 3rd over. Musgrave was the most likely candidate to make a meaningful score for Mannofield but he edged behind off Bhalani for only 3. Wood middled one from Himanshu, but unfortunately it was dead in front of the stumps, and it was his pad rather than his bat that connected with the ball, gone for a duck. Anderson wasn't impressed when he was given caught behind off Bhalani for 7, and his protestations led to Findlay having to fulfil the captains role as he was summoned on to the pitch by the umpires. 19 for 4 and it was hard to see anything other than a home victory. Himanshu did manage to beat the bat of Doley for 6 balls in a row, but Doley showed application by hanging around while Haddon repetitively whipped anything short to the boundary behind square leg. Haddon had moved to 68 before Mauzzam beat him all ends up and disturbed his stumps. Arya Pol picked up a couple of wickets, but it was Mauzzam who was torturing the tail enders giving Sree a couple of stumpings to add to his 3 catches. 6 overs, 3 maidens, 4 for 7 for Mauzzam, as Mannofield were all out for 143.
