Gordonians Cricket Club Gordonians 1st XI v Rossie Priory on Sat 25 Jul 2015 at 13.00
Gordonians Cricket Club Won by 72 runs

Match report With the CS Challenge semi final to be played tomorrow, Swapnil won the toss and decided that batting practice was required. Stark and Dyson got things off to a steady start and had put on 20 before Turner angled one in to Stark, who made things easy for the umpire by leaving the ball to crash in to his off stump, gone for 10. 'Andy' continued to play himself in as his partnership with Swapnil grew, both playing each ball on its merits, both looking secure. They added 96 in 20 overs, and it was a bit of a surprise when Lynch senior sneaked one on to the stumps of Swapnil, out for 42 off only 55 balls. Hamish was having none of this bowled out nonsense, making sure he got his pad in front of the stumps to prevent the ball rattling the timbers, lbw to Lynch for 2. Sunny started off as though he had been batting for an hour in the nets, meeting the ball with the middle of the bat, and accumulating quickly. The scoreboard had rattled along to 156 when 'Andy' Dyson, having been at the crease for nearly 2 and a half hours, had his stumps rearranged by Robertson, his 61 pretty certainly a match winning contribution. With only 7 overs remaining, the clock chimed for run for everything o'clock, and 4 more wickets fell fairly rapidly as the total was lofted to 204 for 8, Sunny not out for an impressive 44 off 39 deliveries. Recent performances suggested this was a total Rossie Priory would have problems with, their chase not helped by Sadler getting his front foot stuck in front of the stumps, a convenient target for Cam, who removed him for a duck. Stephens joined Saunders and dots dominated the scorebook as the runs dried up to a trickle. Stephens was eventually next to go, bowled by Hamish, his 13 runs having taken 65 balls. Stark followed him back for a duck, and Dodson managed 1 run more as Rossie slumped to 72 for 4 in the 31st over. Saunders had batted straught through the innings at the Priory, and he did so again, this time unbeaten on 84. Zahid was 20 not out as they finished on 132 for 4 off the 45 overs. The run chase was never really on, in part due to an above par total, but largely due to the strength of the Gordonian bowling attack who beat the bat whenever an expansive shot was attempted. Although they had wickets in hand, it was acknowledged that if Rossie had tackled the run chase, the likely outcome would have been a quicker finish and a lower score.
