Match report It was a glorious day at Countesswells for the second game of the season, and with no seconds game being played the 3rd XI were afforded the luxury of breaking in the grass wicket.
The Gordonians boys were pleased to hear that new skip C. Airey had won his first toss of the season and elected to bowl first. After a tremendous opening spell the week before C. Airey had no hesitation in throwing the new nut to C Pettitt, with A.Juneja opening with his left arm over the wicket from the other end. It was a solid opening bowling partnership as C.Pettitt removed Grammars first two wickets with only 12 runs on the board. A. Juneja struck twice in quick succession from the other end and Grammar were struggling at 4/12. Thanks to the lightning reflexes of R.Bhatia behind the stumps, and the batsman batting outside the crease, C.Pettitt picked up his third wicket finishing on 3/10 from his 12 overs. A. Juneja finishing on 2/7.
J. Clark followed on from A.Juneja, bowling lovely outswing, finishing on figures of 1/5 (perhaps should have been two). At drinks Grammar were 24/6 and C. Airey threw the ball to Donkey of the day, A.Dolman. Dolman started with a few regulation ‘looseners’ down the leg side before surprising the batsman with a straight ball, taking off stump and finishing on figures of 1/8. M.Jones followed J.Clark from the bottom end and quickly wrapped things up taking 3 wickets in 7 balls finishing on figures of 3/2.

With Grammar finishing their innings on just 34 the Captains decided to go straight back out. J. Stark was promoted above skipper C.Airey to open with K.Kashyup. Excluding one dropped catch there was little to test the batsman who knocked off the 35 runs required in 7 overs, Gordonians winning by 10 wickets.

A special mention should be put out to the young lad D’Costa, who bowled well and batted with a textbook technique, nearly taking Marcs face off in the process, fielding at short mid wicket.
