Match report Gordonians had not lost to Strathmore since they returned to the SPCU in 2012, and with Strathmore missing potential match winner Steve Blackie, plus other 1st teamers, and with some coming back from injury, this result was entirely predictable. Predictably, Rahul bowled 3 no balls. Predictably, Mitch dropped a catch and conceded overthrows. Predictably, Pettitt and Rane bowled tightly. Nobody would have predicted that Rahul would fashion a yes/no run out that saw the dangerous Hazel out 1st ball of the match without even facing. Hewitson and Simpson steadied the innings but predictably struggled to put runs on the board, taking the score to 32 before Hewitson, totally unpredictably fell to a one handed running catch by Rahul. Simpson soon followed, as Swapnil predictably took a wicket in his first over. Hamish bowled 6 overs for only 5 runs whilst Gourlay opened his account by hitting Swapnil for 6. Akhtar went for a duck, caught at slip by Khan off Swapnil. Then it turned in to the Mitch show as he picked up 5 wickets to run through the Strathmore batting. The 34 from Gourlay gave Gordonians something to chase as Strathmore totalled 88.
Akhtar opened with a maiden, but Arora hit Gibb out of the attack after his 2nd over. When Arora smacked Saim around, including a 6, it was effectively game over as Saim was potentially the most likely to instigate a collapse. The openers had taken the score to 83 when Barman was stumped for 18. Arora soon finished it off, ending 68 not out. Special mention should go to Mayank, keeping wicket for the first time and conceding no byes. Next stop Meigle!
