Match report The 2pm start allowed a team visit to MacDonalds for the 8 travelling from Aberdeen. Captain Mundin, who had worked miracles to get 9 students to join himself and Secretary Gray, could not be faulted for his optimism, as he speculated that he had lots of quality batting. It sounded like the Forthill kids were going to be chasing a cricket score. Opening bowler Kidd had a bit of pace and soon had Potton back in the pavilion for 5. And so the batting collapse began with Kidd taking 5 wickets in 7 overs. Eventually Donald Scott at number 8 showed a bit of application that had been sorely lacking. He did sky a simple chance to the keeper who, having looked solid, managed to let the ball slip to the deck. Scott rubbed salt in the wounds by creaming the next ball through the covers for 4. He was out for 15. Mundin had one tactic which involved stepping to leg and cracking the ball to the same fielder at wide cover point every ball. When he was out Amar trudged to the crease intent on quashing any impression that he had become a stroke player. Gray replaced Scott and scored 10 before tamely offering catching practice to slip. The Gray/Ali partnership of 10 had dragged the innings out and to a paltry 61. Tea was left and the teams headed out with the result a foregone conclusion. An early wicket for Berryman gave false hope but the stage was set for Amar to bowl and end the pain for the team. It was no surprise when McNicoll walloped one back past Amar, only for Amar to shoot out a hand and save a boundary, or as a cynic would suggest, drop the catch that cost us the game. Undeterred, Amar served up a slower delivery, which a red faced McNicoll managed to deflect to Scott. This earned Amar another over which duly got what it deserved and it was time for tea and cake. If this had been an episode of Scooby Doo then Mundin would have uttered the words 'I would have got away with it, if it hadn't been for them pesky kids'.
